salt dough message ornaments

Every year I make salt dough ornaments with my girls. It is such a fun and inexpensive way to add to your collection of ornaments. This year as we were rolling out the dough I had a fun little idea. I am sure many of you have seen the sterling silver message necklaces and washer necklaces that are everywhere...well...this is me bringing that trend to my Christmas tree.

All you need is:

salt dough recipe
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1 cup flour
mix together until dough forms and then knead for 7 - 10 minutes
alphabet rubber stamps
circle cookie cutter
ribbon

Once dough is prepared roll out flat and use circle cookie cutter. After you have your circles, take your rubber stamps and press into cut dough. Make a small hole in cut circles (to string through ribbon). Once you have finished place message circles on an ungreased cookie sheet and cook for 2 hours at 250degrees. Remove from oven and allow message circles to cool completely. Once cooled, you can decorate with different paints, pens, glitters etc. or leave as is. String through ribbon and enjoy these fun holiday messages on your Christmas tree.

origami box ornament

Many of you may not know but whenever I sense boredom in my children I always get out the origami paper and we start folding. I have lots of little origami jumping frogs around my house. I was excited when I saw these little boxes (which yes we have made) on Creature Comforts. It is amazing how using some pages from an old book can make any project look stunning.

beehive bazaar

If you live in Utah you need to get to the Beehive Bazaar. I just got back and honestly loved everything there. I grabbed a few little things but wanted to buy up every single booth. It ends tonight Dec. 5th at 8pm, so you better hurry. Click here for a link with all the info and pictures from the different vendors. Ellie got sick last night so I thought since she is just hanging out in bed she might like to look at something pretty like this mobile. I love it and can't wait to make some.
Pretty ring in my favorite color turquoise.

Cute little stockings that may not be in traditional patterns, but will look killer in my house. I couldn't pass them up.

mustache on a stick

Want to make a kid laugh? Walk into their room holding a "mustache on a stick" up to your lip and I guarantee you will get lots of giggles. Then they will want it so that they can "try the mustache" for themselves.
All that I did was draw a template in the shape of a mustache. Pin the template to a piece of felt and cut around template. Then cut out another mustache using your template. Hot glue gun the two felt mustaches together. This gives the felt sturdiness. Now, attach your felt mustache to a popsicle stick using your hot glue gun...and...instant giggles!

wrapped canvas

I was very excited when I saw these because I have about 6 blank canvas boards in my garage for a future project. I think I might put them to use in the meantime. Check it out at Real Simple.
